[JPOP] AKINISHI TO PERFORM IN LOS ANGELES, REST OF KAT-TUN IN ASIA TOUR

Johnny’s Jimusho made two announcements on Wednesday regarding popular boy band KAT-TUN. First, the group will be doing an Asia tour this year. Second, member Jin Akanishi (25) will not be participating in the tour, and will instead be preparing for a set of solo concerts in Los Angeles.

KAT-TUN’s tour is scheduled to run from May to August. Most of the concerts will be in Japan, but a few of them will be held overseas. They will perform in Bangkok on July 31, in Seoul on August 6-7, and in Taipei on August 27-28. Other sources say that a Hawaii concert is also being considered.

However, Akanishi is expected to leave for Los Angeles in May to prepare for three concerts on June 19-20. These will be the first solo performances in the U.S. by a Johnny’s artist.

This is not the first time that Akanishi has been to Los Angeles. From 2006 to 2007, he took a break from show business and spent half a year there to study English.

After a solo performance in February, Akanishi received an offer from American cable channel UTB, which focuses on Japanese programs. At the time, KAT-TUN’s Asia tour had already been finalized, but after discussions with the other members and agency president Johnny Kitagawa, it was decided that the tour would go on without Akanishi. He agreed to three concerts on June 19-20 at the Club Nokia venue at the L.A. Live complex. It is said that he will perform the shows entirely in English.

Akanishi is expected to remain in Los Angeles until October. He will be involved in promotional activities and is considering additional U.S. concerts.

Akanishi Jin (25) of the popular group “KAT-TUN”‘s first movie “BANDAGE” will be distributed in Korea and Taiwan starting the 16th. The distributor, Toho, is “under negotions with (other) countries”, so it seems like the rock band vocals of Akanishi’s will be heard all over the world. Akanishi in Bandage Premiere

There is some great news with the premiere of the movie. It’s been decided that the movie “BANDAGE”, starring Akanishi, will be distributed in Taiwan and Korea. Furthermore, it seems that other countries are voluntarily negotiating a release.

For Akanishi, who hasn’t had any overseas performances with KAT-TUN, will this time step into foreign markets with his group activities.

Acting in this film is of course, the rock band LANDS, who last November came out with the single “BANDAGE”, and this month on the 13th came out with an album “Olympos”, were a big hit. It seems that the two faces of drama and music will be recognized worldwide.

With such good news, Akanishi, at the main screening building in Tokyo, Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills, appeared with Kitano Kii, Anne and others. They celebrated the premiere and global advancement with the fans.

The movie is about Natsu (whom Akanishi plays), a leader of the rock band LANDS that’s having some conflicts, and the growing up that comes with adolescence. Appropriate of a movie about a rock band, the shooting was the same production as when the artist Yazawa Eikichi sang “Tomaranai Ha~Ha”, where the fans threw their towels.

With 500 towels thrown up all at once, the theater completely changed into a concert hall. Furthermore, 1 towel managed to hang off of Akanishi’s head. Akanishi wore the towel jokingly. Different from the shameless attitude of the group, his expression was very loose.

He responded admirably with, “I’m filled with gratitude to everyone. Since we’ve been shooting since the year before last, it’s like, it’s finally open”.

[JPOP] KAT-TUN TANAKA WATCHES YAMA-P (NEWS) SOLO CONCERT

KAT-TUN member Tanaka Koki went to see the solo concert held by NEWS member Yamashita Tomohisa (a.k.a. Yama-P). He also looked back at some memorable incidents.

Tanaka “A while ago I went to see Yama-P’s concert! He looked brilliant. We used to go to the same high school, where we enjoyed doing stupid things and getting scolded by the teachers. I slept over at Yama-P’s house and then inviting Yama-P to my home. Although we were performing as Johnny’s members I naturally felt that we were closer as classmates.
After we costarred in the drama series ‘白虎隊 / Byakkotai’, I started to consider him as a ‘colleague’ as well. When we were filming ‘白虎隊 / Byakkotai’, above anything else I didn’t want to ‘lose’ to him.
Now we’ve grown up, and I saw the person I had done stupid things together and had worked together unflinchingly perform at a big concert. It felt kind of funny, but it made me think that I have to do my best to perform just as hard as Yama-P.

Since I’ve been talking about ‘Akira,’ I should talk about ‘Shuji’ as well! [‘Shuji to Akira’ was an artist duo formed by Yamashita and KAT-TUN member Kamenashi; Yamashita was called ‘Akira’, while Kamenashi became ‘Shuji’.] Two days after my birthday, Kame-chan [Kamenashi] and I went out to eat dinner together to celebrate! I requested that we eat ‘shabu-shabu’♪ [‘Shabu-shabu; しゃぶしゃぶ’ is a type of Japanese dish similar to the Chinese dish ‘hot pot’.]
We talked about a lot of things…about our future, our careers and trivial things too. Don’t worry Kame-chan, I’m 24 years old. I’m an adult now. I’ll work hard and move forward one step at a time so I can go head to head with everybody!
I don’t know what we’d be doing several years from now…let’s just do our best. Let’s do our utmost, and overcome any obstacles that get in our way…and a few years from now we should again go and eat shabu-shabu and have fun!
‘Akira’ and ‘Shuji’ have given me strength. They made me feel I should continue to work hard! From this month I’m planning to take dance lessons. I like dancing so I’m looking forward to it!!”

Since they’re so close together, they are able to become good influences for each other. As they continue to compete with each other, their relationships will last for years to come!
