Korean talenthouse SM Entertainment artists Kangta, BoA, Super Junior and f(x) performed at the Expo 2010 Shanghai China over the weekend.
The stars took to the stage of the ‘Korea Music Festival’ held at the Cultural Center of the Shanghai Expo Park in Sunday attended by 10,000 people.
The music festival was divided into two parts — the first half focusing on the Korean traditional heritage show followed by the performances of Kangta, BoA, Super Junior and f(x).
For the opening act, SM’s youngest artists f(x) sang their songs “LA chA TA,” “Chu~♡” as well as their latest single “NU ABO.” Kangta, who was recently discharged from the military earlier this year, performed his hit tunes “Eternity,” “Just One Day” and “Evergreen Tree+Polaris.”
BoA gave a powerful show with her songs “Eat You Up,” “Look Who’s Talking” and “Energetic,” while Super Junior danced and sang to their popular songs “Man in Love,” “Sorry Sorry” and “BONAMANA.”
SM Entertainment, founded by former singer Lee Soo-man in 1995, is in charge of creating the successful careers of numerous K-pop artists including Fly To The Sky, H.O.T, TVXQ and Girls’ Generation.
SM also manages many songwriters, music producers, comedians and actors including Ara, Choi Jung-yoon and Lee Yeon-hee.
The DVD for K-pop sensation BoA’s live Christmas concert in Japan last year will be released in Korea on Wednesday.
A press release by her agency SM Entertainment explained that the DVD titled “BoA THE LIVE 2009 X’mas” will feature the Christmas show and behind-the-scenes footage of the event held last December.
An additional featurette will be the music video of “Possibility,” a duet with Japanese singer Miura Daichi which was a track from her seventh full-length album.
The DVD will showcase live performances by the songstress singing a total of 19 songs including Christmas carols “This Christmas,” “Silent Night, Holy Night” and her own holiday singles “Merry-Chri,” “Winter Love,” and “Mamoritai～White Wishes～.”
BoA has been one of the most successful K-pop artists since first making her debut ten years ago and is one of the first Korean artists to make a major breakthrough into the Japanese music industry.
BoA is currently on her “BoA LIVE TOUR 2010 ~IDENTITY~” tour in Japan.

The Korean pop star BoA hopes to return to her home country on Aug. 25, the release date of her first new Korean-language album in five years. The comeback commemorates the 10th anniversary of the singer’s debut in 2000.
After her first album, “ID; Peace B,” was released here by SM Entertainment, BoA’s popularity exploded across Asia, especially in Japan. Since her last Korean album, “Girls on Top” in 2005, BoA has concentrated on her career in Japan and the United States.
According to an official at SM Entertainment, “2010 is a very meaningful year for BoA, and she is planning to produce an album owning up to that meaning. She will resume her career in America, and Lee Soo-man [head of SM], is overseeing her progress there.”
Korean pop singer BoA will be making a comeback to the K-pop music scene with her first album release in five years, according to her agency SM Entertainment.
An official at SM explained yesterday that BoA is “preparing for a comeback in Korea with a new album” but added that “time of release and details about the album have not been established as of yet.”
Her last album in Korea was “Girls on Top”, released in 2005, and she has been busy working in Japan and U.S.
The songstress released her seventh album “Identity” in Japan last month, which she also co-produced. She will be wrapping up her two-month tour in the country on April 16.
BoA, one of the most active K-pop stars on the international scene, debuted in August 2000 with the album “ID; Peace B”. She has released eight studio albums in Korea, six in Japan and made her U.S. debut in March 2009.
This year marks her ten-year anniversary of her debut in the music industry.

K-pop singer BoA was awarded with the “U.S. Billboard Publisher’s Award” at the first Billboard Japan Music Awards last month.
“BoA won the U.S. Billboard Publisher’s Award at the award ceremony that was held in Japan on Sunday,” an official at SM Entertainment told Asia Economic Daily over the phone on Monday.
At the award ceremony, the songstress performed her title track “Possibility” from her seventh full-length album “IDENTITY” which will go on sale February 10.
BoA has been one of the most successful K-pop singers in Korea since her debut with her first album titled “ID: Peace B” in 2000. Her numerous albums have also made her a star in Japan.
The 23-year-old singer expanded her singing career into the United States late in 2008, releasing her first single “Eat You Up” her first album “BoA” the following March. She also released a repackaged version of her debut album later in the year.
BoA is currently preparing for her Japanese tour “BoA LIVE TOUR 2010” scheduled to take off in April.
