2NE1 is signaling their comeback with their first official album titled, “To Anyone,” to be released on Sept. 9. The album will include 12 songs including six new ones, four previously released and two bonus tracks.
On Aug. 17, Yang Hyun-suk, the CEO of YG Entertainment – the group’s management company – through their official Web page, revealed, “Will. I. Am., the leader and producer of the Black Eyed Peas, has offered to produce this album and to aid the group’s future debut in America. We have finished recording a total of 10 songs in English up to this point.”
Yang continued, “Will. I. Am. is currently in the middle of preparing for the next Black Eyed Peas album, so the plans for 2NE1’s American debut are still unclear. However, we are scheduled to launch the group on stage in Japan in the beginning of next year. We are looking into a way for 2NE1 to be musically active in all three countries next year.”
2NE1 member Sandara Park is prepping for a music video shoot in Los Angeles for labelmate Taeyang of idol group Big Bang.
Earlier this morning, the female pop idol posted a picture of herself at Los Angeles International Airport on her official me2DAY page (http://me2day.net/21dara) along with the comment “Wassup, LA.”
Two days ago, she put up a photo of herself and Taeyang at the music video shoot for the Big Bang singer who will be releasing his first full-length solo album next month.
She left for L.A. on Wednesday, joining bandmates Park Bom, Gong Minzy and C.L. who flew out over the weekend “to travel,” as agency YG Entertainment said.
Park, 25, grew up in the Philippines and became quite well-known in the region after entering a local talent show. She moved to Korea in 2007 and signed with YG Entertainment, where she became a trainee and became one of the members of 2NE1.
2NE1 first came onto the music scene with the song “Lollipop,” a joint collaboration with Big Bang which was featured in a commercial for LG’s mobile phone brand CYON.
They made their official debut in May 2009 with the single “Fire” and followed it up with “I Don’t Care,” which both became hits on various K-pop music charts.
2NE1 will be returning to Korea sometime early next month.

New comer 4 member girl group, 2NE1, will be appearing at Big Bang’s solo concert for three days as guests.
Big Bang’s representatives revealed that the hidden attraction is no other than the girl group from the same company (YG Entertainment), 2NE1 who will be appearing for all three days as a guest.
Big Bang representatives stated “Sandara Park, Park Bom, CL, and Gong Minji received a lot of help from their sunbaes Big Bang since their debut and they are always thinking of them.”, “Wanting to repay their thanks to them, they are planned to make special appearances for the three days of the concert”.
Following this announcement, there has been much speculation on whether they will be performing their collaboration song together “Lollipop” at this concert.
Meanwhile, 2NE1 currently in the middle of preparing for their first full length album to be released in the beginning of this year.

A copycat of South Korea’s top girl group 2NE1 has shown up in Thailand, following the emergence of China’s version of Girls’ Generation.
The “Candy Mafia” music video by Thailand’s four-member female group Mafia has many similarities to 2NE1’s music video “Fire,” press reports said. In particular, the Thai members copied costumes and styles of their counterparts from 2NE1 to a large extent.
An Internet user was quoted as saying, “We can easily find that the motor bike scene in `Fire’ was stolen by the Thai group. Nonetheless, 2NE1 is superior to Mafia in many respects.”
Last week, a copycat of South Korean idol group Girls’ Generation became the talk of the Internet after a photo of the nine-member Chinese girl group named Idol Girls appeared on a famed domestic portal site.
2NE1 is chosen as The Year’s Best Artiste during the 1st year of their debut.
Music portal site Mnet collated its own music charts from 1st January till 10th December of this year and announced 2NE1 as the Best Artiste Of The Year. 2NE1 has gained great popularity in the first year of their debut, going up to #1 in both artist and album category.
Their hits include ‘Lollipop’ released in April before debut, and after debut there were ‘Fire’, ‘I Don’t Care’ and ‘In The Club’ etc. And apart from that, the members also have their special solo hits like Sandara Park with ‘Kiss’, Park Bom with ‘You And I’, CL and MinJi with ‘Please Don’t Go’. The members have also done their unique solo activities.

Mnet.com head Geum GiHoon explained, “This year was a year for girlgroups, and 2NE1 has been the hot issue from the every beginning doing the concept of ‘female Big Bang’. And then after that, they released hits after hits and maintained their popularity and attracted fans throughout. In addition, the visitor hits for their ‘Artiste Page’ is also relatively higher than other singers.”
This ranking chart uses the industry standard of looking at streaming and download hits, and also judging from Mnet’s very own artiste page for each singers.

2NE1, the K-pop female quartet with Sandara Park as member, won as Best New Artist for 2009 in an online poll participated in by Filipino fans.
The poll was conducted by organizers of the First Philippine K-Pop Convention, which was held last Dec. 5 in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
Organizers said about 3,000 Filipino fans voted in the poll that was conducted in November.
Filipino K-pop fans also picked “Nobody” by the Wonder Girls as Song of the Year and “Gee” by Girls Generation as Music Video of the Year.
Some 13 Filipino fan clubs of K-pop idols joined the one-day convention where they got to join games and buy K-pop goods including CDs.
These are fan clubs of TVXQ, Big Bang, Super Junior, Girls Generation, Wonder Girls, SHINee, Shinhwa, Rain, SS501, FT Island, f(x), 2NE1 and 2PM/2AM.
The convention also became a fundraising event for Gawad Kalinga, a foundation that aims to ease poverty in the Philippines and provide homes for the poor.
The fans also chose Super Junior’s third album, “Sorry, Sorry,” as Album of the Year.
On the other hand, Kim Hyun Joong, leader of pop group SS501 and star of the hit Korean drama series “Boys over Flowers,” was chosen as the Hottest Male K-pop Star for 2009 and 2NE1’s Park Bom as the Hottest Female K-pop Star.
Kang Dae Sung, member of Big Bang and a mainstay of the popular Korean entertainment program “Family Outing,” was voted Best Variety Idol.
The Filipino fans also signed up for an online petition asking the Korean Embassy in the Philippines to bring more K-pop idol groups to perform in the Philippines.
