Female idol group KARA will be back with a minialbum coming mid-February and resuming their promotional activities.

A representative said on 26th January, “The aim is for KARA to comeback mid-February. And the plan is for them to release a minialbum. Currently we are working on the title song and also the member concept.”

Many speculations are that chances are high that KARA will make their comeback on music shows after the lunar new year holidays.

It seemed that since KARA and So Nyeo Shi Dae will be promoting in the same time period, a ’showdown’ between the 2 groups will be unavoidable.

So Nyeo Shi Dae will be releasing their 2nd full length album on 28th January and do promotions for the album.

Meanwhile, KARA will be having their first Japanese showcase on the 7th next month.

[KPOP] G.DRAGON EXPOSES FEELING ON THE CONCERT ISSUE

[BreakingNews] GDragon exposes his feelings on the concert issue

Posted Image

GDragon had many labels in the past, some good and some bad. Big Bang’s leader. The youngest boy who was participating in HipHop albums by the age of 13. One of the top 8 composers that shined in 2008. Placing first in all possible music charts with his solo album. 2009’s greatest selling record. Plagiarism issues. Known for interesting fashion. And the most recent one, concert issues.

There had been a set of associated words with GDragon. However, he was the boy that went on along his way without any rest in the music world, but there will always be the critics commenting on his actions. Through an interview, we learned about what kind of a path he kept on going from that one little boy to a star that is loved by many people.

People who are close to GDragon say that he is “very detailed and trustworthy.” So detailed that he would check daily on every single detail of his album and watch the concert stage from the 3rd floor to make sure that his fans wouldn’t miss out on a thing. A person like that was slammed down on his first concert. It was all because of the sexy performance he displayed during his own song, ‘Breathe.’

GDragon stated, “I believe that since I am a singer for the public, I know that it is right for the public to judge me. No matter what I was trying to show, it was my fault if it [the concert] was disturbing and high level. I was only trying to show a stronger appearance because it wasn’t a public show, but a concert performance. I’m really sad that the response was different from what I expected.” While he was preparing his first concert, he was excited. Since the age of 13 entering YG Entertainment, this was the stage he was dreaming about for 10 years. He pondered on the videos to show, and explored each section of the audience seats to view how the stage would look from there. Big Bang’s stages also made him excited, but this solo concert that had his own name on it as a single singer meant the world to him.

“Seriously, I don’t know even remember how hard I rose up to this level for my solo concert. I might be saying this because I’m still young, but really when this concert ended, I really thought to myself, ‘I would want nothing else more.’” But, when I turned on the internet the next day, my heart crashed to see only the parts of concert torn apart with the issues.” He confessed that he faced sadness as a singer when he realized that the performances that he worked hard on was torn apart and that one cut represented his whole concert. Was it to much for him to show different sides of him to the audience that couldn’t easily access the concert?

“Instead of tears, fake laugh came out as I thought, ‘will I be cursed so that anywhere I go, I get bashed at?’” I didn’t want it to go this far. I just wanted to show my fans the different sides. In the performances I showed cute sides, and handsome sides, but why did it only get cut into this part? All the news paper articles had that strong word in them, and I was embrassed and sad that my parents might see these articles that only had one side to them.” He added on, “My thinking was short. However I just wish that people wouldn’t criticise me just for that one section. The song ‘Breathe’ in general is about not wanting to wake up from a dream because my ideal woman appears in them. Because of those lyrics I had a bed on stage and showed that I was searching my dreams. But the final product the public saw was, ”sex demonstration.” I was shocked and thought, ‘I’m not this, but I guess this is how I look to the people,’ realizing it then.”

He finally added, “Whether I get praised at, or slammed at, I think that is proof that the public is showing interests toward me. I have to understand the fact that telling me what part I did wrong helps me to improve in the future. The way I could he accepted and win praises is to do better on the next album. This once again reminded me that I have to do my best on the Big Bang album coming out this year.”

Nulsaranghae: Please be respectful when commenting. Realize that GDragon confessed his feeling on the issue himself.

[KPOP] 2PM’S TAECYEON MULLING TV ACTING DEBUT

Boy band 2PM member Taecyeon [Asia Economic Daily]

Taecyeon of popular boy band 2PM is considering making his acting debut in a TV series, according to a source at broadcaster KBS on Tuesday.

“It is highly likely that Taecyeon will appear in the drama,” the source said of the singer’s possibility to join the cast of the show tentatively titled “Cinderella’s Sister” in English. “Talks are in final stages and Taecyeon is considering the project on a positive note.”

The singer’s agency JYP Entertainment took a more cautious approach though, saying “nothing has been set.”

“Cinderella’s Sister”, a modern adaptation of the fairy tale, will star Korean actors Moon Geun-young, Chun Jung-myung and Seo Woo. If Taecyeon accepts the offer, he will play the role of Jung-woo, who protects Eun-jo, the character to be played by Moon.

Taecyeon, 22, is one of the six members of popular idol group 2PM, who debuted in 2008. The boy band made headlines last year when their former leader Park Jaebeom quit the group and left Korea after sparking national controversy over what he had written on his MySpace page several years ago.

The remaining six members managed to make a successful comeback with their first full-length album “1:59 PM”, which was released in November. The album’s first single “Heartbeat” topped Korea’s music charts for three consecutive weeks.

[KPOP] C.N BLUE’S NEW SINGLE STORMS TO NO.1

Four-member boy band CNBLUE [FNC Music]

Four-member boy band CNBLUE has topped last week’s singles chart with their new song “Alone,” according to music cable channel Mnet.

The group, who released their first mini-album titled “Bluetory” in Korea less than two weeks ago, jumped 70 spots to place No. 1 on Mnet’s weekly singles chart for the week of January 18 to 24.

The band had debuted in Japan first, releasing two singles in the country before appearing on the Korean music scene, where they received much hype with leader and main vocalist Jung Yong-hwa gaining popularity from his appearance in SBS TV series “Minamishineyo.”

“Wonder Woman” sung by girl groups SeeYa, Davichi and T-ara remained in the same position as last week while boy band 2PM’s “Tik Tok” climbed a spot to round off the top three.

Meanwhile, 2AM’s newly-released record “I Can’t Let You Go” was the best-selling album last week, pushing down girl group T-ara down a slot to enter Mnet’s chart in first place.

Boy band 2PM’s first full-length album ranked third on the chart, falling back a notch from its position last week.

[KPOP] MBLAQ ON THE SET OF “IDOL SHOW”

Boy band MBLAQ member Mir, comediennes Shin Bong-sun and Jung Ju-ri and child actress Kim Su-jung take part in a shoot for cable channel MBCevery1’s reality program “Idol Show” at a restaurant in Seoul, South Korea on January 12, 2010. [Chae Ki-won/10Asia]

“Oh, don’t call him uncle, it’s oppa!” child actor Kim Su-jung, who had been sitting primly in a tall chair, cuts in angrily in response to the show hosts’ remarks. Then Mir, the only designated “oppa,” or older brother, of the bunch, starts fiercely putting on (what he believes are) sexy dance moves in his seat, repaying Su-jung for expressing her affection for him. They call themselves “chic-dols” but boy band MBLAQ is really a bunch of “naive-dols”. The minute they step into the playground laid out by the producers of “Idol Show! Season 5”, they throw themselves into competition right away and forget all about maintaining a certain image. The sight makes the show’s two hosts — Shin Bong-sun and Jung Ju-ri — burst into uncontrollable laughter, not to mention the producers and writers. And it is very hard not to laugh when Lee Joon — who had previously met Su-jung on a different television program but failed to grab her attention during the taping — starts defending himself up against the suspicious eyes the moment the camera stops rolling. “I talked to her a lot too!” he cries out.

But toward the end of the shoot, the uncontrollable laughter naturally changes into heartwarming “motherly smiles”. Seung Ho, who was not feeling well and did nothing but laugh during the shoot, sneaks up to a piano and belatedly attempts to showcase his charms. Lee Joon kneels on the floor to be on the same eye level with Su-jung and sends an adorable apology her way saying, “Su-jung, I’m sorry I startled you before.” Seeing Mir, who acted so wildly throughout the shoot, gather together and hand over to the crew a bunch of props which were used for the shoot is close to seeing a twist at the end of a movie. Producer Lee Yoon-hwa compliments Mir by saying, “Oh! A well-mannered man!” and Mir, feeling a bit embarrassed, responds with an unidentifiable laugh which sounds something like “kehonghonghong”. Let us keep our eyes on this show every Wednesday evening and see if these naive-dols and their chicer-than-“chic-dols” producer will be able to make yet another cable TV history.

[KPOP] SUNG MI ANNOUNCES LEAVE FROM WONDER GIRLS

Wonder Girls member Mimi [10Asia]

Wonder Girls member Mimi has announced that she will be leaving her group to take a break from her music career and attend college, according to agency JYP Entertainment (JYPE) on Monday.

“It was a very happy and precious experience for me to tour and perform in 50 cities in the U.S. over the past year,” the singer was quoted as saying. “But I started wondering whether I could go on living this kind of life in the future.”

She explained that she wants to go back to living a normal life, go to school and return to the entertainment business at a later time. She also added that she wants to continue receiving dancing and singing lessons during her break from the group.

JYPE said they respect Mimi’s decision which comes after long consideration and discussion among other bandmates, family members and officials at the agency and will “support her in making a comeback at a time of her choosing after she has entered college.”

Mimi, 18, is set to fulfill her responsibility as a member of the group until the end of February and return to Korea in March to prepare for her college entrance qualification exam. As one of the two youngest members of her pop quintet, she had quit high school last year to expand her singing career to the U.S.

Her place in the group will be filled by new member Lim, a JYP trainee who has been preparing for debut for three years and reportedly speaks four languages including English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Wonder Girls, who debuted in 2007, is one of the most successful K-pop groups who has made an impressive crossover to the United States. In October, their U.S. debut single “Nobody” entered the Billboard Hot100 at No. 76, making them the first Korean artists to be placed on the chart in its 115-year history.

They had actively promoted themselves in the U.S. last year — opening for popular boy band The Jonas Brothers during their U.S. summer tour, appearing on radio and television shows including FOX’s “Wendy Williams Show” and “So You Think You Can Dance”.

They kicked off the tour with a press conference and fan meeting the next day to which some 2,000 Taiwanese fans showed up. Organizers had to cut down the attendance for the event, which took place at CTS Broadcasting Station, to 200 people for safety reasons.

The girl group and the boy band then held a joint concert on Saturday attended by some 5,000 fans of both groups. They performed for about two hours, singing numerous songs including their unreleased tracks “Won’t You Give It To Me” (by 4minute) and “Yet” (BEAST).

“It was predicted that Girls’ Generation would reach No. 1 since they sweep music charts with every single release,” explained Lee Jung-kyu, an executive at Monkey 3’s digital music division. “It was only a matter of how quickly they would achieve it and this is faster a response than ‘Tell Me Your Wish’.'”
