[KARA] FIRST FOREIGN GROUP TO MAKE TOP 10 ON JAPANESE ORICON

Kara became the first foreign Asian girl group to make the top 10 on the Japanese Oricon charts.

Oricon is the most influential music statistics publisher in Japan.

The group’s debut single “Mister,” which was released on Aug. 11, sold 29,000 copies in the first week. This allowed Kara to reach No. 5 on the daily Oricon singles chart and fifth on the Aug. 16 weekly chart.

The first foreign female group to make to the Oricon hall of fame is the world famous Irish disco group the Nolans, with their 1980 single, “I’m In the Mood for Dancing,” but Kara is the first non-Japanese Asian female group to hit the charts.

Female idol group KARA will be back with a minialbum coming mid-February and resuming their promotional activities.

A representative said on 26th January, “The aim is for KARA to comeback mid-February. And the plan is for them to release a minialbum. Currently we are working on the title song and also the member concept.”

Many speculations are that chances are high that KARA will make their comeback on music shows after the lunar new year holidays.

It seemed that since KARA and So Nyeo Shi Dae will be promoting in the same time period, a ’showdown’ between the 2 groups will be unavoidable.

So Nyeo Shi Dae will be releasing their 2nd full length album on 28th January and do promotions for the album.

Meanwhile, KARA will be having their first Japanese showcase on the 7th next month.

It was recently confirmed that five-member gal group Kara would be performing at the OSL (OnGameNet Starleague) Finals, a huge tournament taking place this month for Starcraft, aka the unofficial national sport of Korea.

On Sunday, January 17, former champion Flash will be matched up against Royal Roader Movie at Olympic Park – Olympic Hall in Seoul for the final round of the tournament; the girls will be there to perform at the event. The tournament, which will begin at 5PM, will be livestreamed on various websites, so you can watch the two have a go at each other live when the big day comes.

This isn’t the first time that an idol girl group has performed for Starcraft players, as SNSD made an appearance at a tournament last August for a few performances.

Apparently, Flash recently revealed that his ideal type is none other than Kara’s Nicole… so this should prove to be quite an interesting encounter!

[KPOP] KARA’S JAPAN FANMEETING SUCCESS

Posted Image

Girl Group Kara has exceeded expectations in Japan.

It was announced that Kara are holding their Japanese showcase fanmeeting in Akasaka, Tokyo at a venue which seats 1400 people. Consequently the reactions of Japanese fans have been explosive. With tickets on sale for less than a week, for the 1400 seats available more than 3000 people (and counting) have registered. With the number of registrants steadily increasing to this day, Kara should be very pleased with themselves.

A PR stated “This is beyond all of our expectations, even we are astonished. We are currently in discussions over how to move forward.”

This could possibly be a sign of Kara skyrocketing to fame in Japan. After well-known Japanese gagman Gegitan Hitori’s continuous talks about Kara, the girl group has become quite a topic of conversation in the country. They even appeared through video on Japan’s great idol group show, Arashi’s homework.

Meanwhile Kara have said “Around January in the new year we will announce our new album and, initially, focus on Korean activities; our Japanese activities will need to be evaluated a little more closely before any are made definite.”
